Steve Jobs: One Simple Fact

When you grow up, you tend to get told that the world is the way it is, and your life is just to live your life inside the world. Try not to bash into the walls too much. Try to have a nice family life, have fun, save a little money.

That's a very limited life. Life can be much broader once you discover one simple fact, and that is, everything around you that you call "life" was made up by people that were no smarter than you. And you can change it, you can influence it, you can build your own things that other people can use.

Once you learn that, you'll never be the same again.

Chatter for the Week Ending October 7, 2011: Remembering Steve Jobs

MacRumors collected some touching statements and reactions.

"A series of photos Steve took in my office testing Photo Booth filters in 2005."

"Jobs the man embodied a new way to think about work ..."

Jobs on hiring: "A lot of companies — I know it sounds crazy — but a lot of companies don't do that. They hire people to tell them what to do. We hire people to tell us what to do."

"The best ideas emerge from the intersection of technology and the humanities."

And lastly, in his own words, "Here's to the Crazy One."

Chatter is a weekly collection of links to articles that Medallia employees found relevant, interesting, or just plain fun.

The Mentor We Never Met
